Last night I stayed overnight in the mountains. I was staying at the Old Clayton Inn in Clayton, GA. I have stayed there several times over the past eight years or so. So much that it is kind of like staying with family.
Last night more like family than ever. I had just taken a shower and was lounging on the bed in my boxers reading a book when all of a sudden the door to the room opened and the over head light came on. I looked toward the door and a lady and her husband were walking in to the room. I sat up on the bed and looked at them and said, "Hello, can I help you?" The lady screamed and her husband covered her eyes and back her out of the room.
Apparently the front desk had mistakenly given them a key to my room.

Nice! At least you had your boxers on! Did you use the chain lock after that?
That, my friend, is too funny.
My best story about staying at a "like family" hotel : The Timberwolf Inn near Bigfork (where our mfg. facility is). I was going up for a couple-of-days visit to the factory and arriving late on a Monday. Monday's, during the off-season, they are closed - but will leave the door to your room unlocked for you (having previously told you the room number). I had mentioned to them that I would be there, but late late late as it is a 3.5 hour drive from The Cities and I was leaving after work, stopping at home on the way for dinner.
And I ended up leaving even later than I thought.
I was late. When I got there, fearing that someone else would accidentally grab my room, the door was locked. As I was thinking, "hmmm, this is not good" I heard a window open from above the front desk/restaurant/bar/lounge area (turns out they live above this) and a voice yelled down, "Is that Matt?"
Whew.
(My favorite thing about the inn is the sign on the back of the hotel-room doors. It includes the following : "No game cleaning in rooms."
This is a remote place.)
ohhhhhhhhh I wish I had been there..how funny is that!!
I loved that story ad!!
