263'

Nothing but chains. Assuming this weekend was the last chance to play before winter finally sets in and not being able to travel to Minneapolis like we had hoped, I took advantage and played three rounds of disc golf yesterday and three rounds today. This afternoon, on the second round of nine, hole number one, I hit my first hole in one in more than 12 years and my 7th overall.

Very cool. How did it feel?

It felt great! And one of the nice things about this particular hole-in-one...I was playing with three others and two of them are 'players'. So they understand. The third was someone playing for his first time.

This hole has a branch that hangs down just enough to make the hole hard to reach. So when you throw the hole you hope to 'get through' the branch because you can't go over because of the trees and going under the branch doesn't give you enough hieght to reach the basket.

The disc I used...is a really beat up scorpion...so beat up that when I threw it one the same hole the next round it turned over, made it through several trees and landed in a swampy area that should never come into play on that hole...

I am sure it felt great. Now, here is the question ; did you know it was a good drive at the release or did it surprise you when it hit?

You mention that the second time around your drive turned over and went into an area that should "never come into play." I remember years ago playing at Kaposia with you and you had a drive turn over on "the valley shot" (to never come back) and we watched it ride the wind - to never-never land.

Right upon release...I knew it had a chance and so did the two regular 'players' playing with me. Once it was past the 'branch' I was saying, "Hit It, Hit, It" and Dustin (the one I play with most of the time) was yelling, "it's in, it's in" before it actually hit the basket.

I do remember the 'valley shot' at Kaposia. Probable the longest disc I've ever thrown. In fact I think I saw it a few weeks later somewhere over Minneapolis...
